Mortal Application Guide

Players will need to include the following information. Please copy/paste the provided sections into the body of your application and fill out the information.

  • Player Information

    Player information is used to help staff navigate between players and their applications. Please make sure that you pay attention to the information you are setting, and report any mistakes to your staffer.

  • Player ID: This is used to properly identify the character bit on the game as well as make sure that all alt listings are properly updated upon approval. Need to find your ID? Check the commands in Help Registration.
  • Current Alts: If you have no alts, simply write 'None' here.

    Character Basics

    Character basics represent the basic information pertaining to a character as well as small pieces of system such as natures and demeanors. All of this information is required for approval, so please make sure to complete all of these before moving forward.

  • Age: Remember that this game only supports character aged 18+.
  • Nature: Nature List

    Attributes

    CN has chosen to skip the prioritization of attributes and instead gives players their points in a lump sum to be used as they choose. Also, remember that all attributes begin at 1. More information on Attributes can be found here.

    Keep in Mind...

  • No more than 1 attribute may be at level 1.
  • No more than 1 attribute may be at level 4.
  • Mortal characters receive (13) attribute points.

    Virtues

    Like in Attributes, characters begin with a 1 free dot in each Virtue. Remember that these virtues will help calculate your character's Humanity score as well as their Willpower level.

    Freebies

    Freebies can be used to increase previously set stats, buy new stats, increase pools as well as purchase Merits and Flaws. Costs are determined by the Freebie Point Chart found below.

  • Characters may only get credit for up to 7 points of flaws.
  • Characters may take no more than 10 points of merits.
  • Characters may have no more than 1 level 5 attribute.
  • Characters may have more than 1 level 5 ability.
  • Merits & Flaws marked CharGen Only may not be purchased after this room.
  • Mortal characters receive (15) freebie points to spend.

    Listing Your Freebies

    When submitting your application, do not adjust your stats with freebie points. Add your Freebie spends under the Freebie section and staff will make the adjustments for you. Freebie spends need to be submitted in the following format:

  • Item to be Adjusted - Current Rating to New Rating (Freebie Cost)
  • Ie. Wits 2 to 3 (5 points)

  • Character Vitals

    Character vitals fill out information that every character should have. This information pertains to their identity(s), past and present, etc. Please be mindful that while your character may not publicly share or even be aware of this information, this data stands as a record of fact. Please think carefully over the following information. Vaguely described or skipped fields will not be accepted.

    True Identity:

  • Birth Name - The name you were born with.
  • Birth Date - Date of birth (include year)
  • Birth Location - The name of the town/city, state & country.
  • Parents - The name of mother and father.
  • Living Relatives - Any blood-related living relatives.
  • Current Identity (If Applicable):

  • Current Name - The name you were born with.
  • Birth Date - Date of birth (include year)
  • Birth Location - The name of the town/city, state & country.
  • Parents - The name of mother and father.
  • Relatives - Any blood-related living relatives.
  • Keep In Mind: ‘Alternate Identity Background’ required.
  • Additional Identities (If Applicable):

  • Known Aliases - Any additional aliases you have gone by or are currently going by.
  • Bank Information:

  • Do you have a bank account? What Identity is this under?
  • If someone else handles this for the character, please be sure to have purchased Retainer.
  • Addresses:

  • Do you have an address within the city? Where do you receive mail?
  • Fill this out as if your character is already IC. Where will you live? Do you use a PO box? Where do they receive mail?
  • Previous Address(s):

  • What cities will background checks place your character in? What cities/states have they lived in previously to Kingsford.
  • This doesn't need to be exact, but please provide the city & state.
  • Conviction Summary (If Applicable):

  • Please list any convictions the character may have had in the past. Please be as detailed as possible with dates and locations and list any time done.
  • This information should appear in your background.
  • Additional Notes (If Applicable):

  • Please include any additional notes that may be important to staff or storytellers concerning your character.

  • Written Portions

    When writing the written portions of the app, players should be prepared to think carefully and be as detailed as necessary to give a solid glimpse into their character and who they are.

    Timeline

    Players should provide a detailed timeline that covers significant events that shaped the character's life. Please start with the date of birth for the character, and move forward including all important events in the characters life.

    Known Info

    This section of the characters application covers known information pertaining to specific parts of their life. Keep in mind that all characters will have information in Public, regardless of how new a character is to the city. This information can also be updated as the character progresses in their story.

  • Info Sections are: Public, Fame, Faction, Clan, Streetwise
  • Fame should only be set if the character has taken the ‘Fame background’.
  • Streetwise should only be set if the character has points in Streetwise.
